ITI stands for Industrial Training Institute. These are post-secondary schools in India. They are constituted under the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Union Government, and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of India.
The main purpose of such institutes is to train the youngsters with technical skills to the students, who have passed their 8th, 10th or 12th class. They are motivated to gain technical expertise from industrial training institutes to help them with their future.
The ITI was established to help the rapidly growing industrial sector with the workforce. As of 2019, there are approximate, 15700 ITIs all across India. This number includes the ITIs operated by Government as well as private agencies.
